Book Review: The Favor by Suzanne Wright

This book is the first one I read by Suzanne Wright, and I instantly fell in love. Why did I not read this earlier? Another regret officially added to my list.

The Favor had everything I adore in a romance book. A sassy heroine, a silent-but-lethal hero, sharp banter, sizzling tension, and so many moments that had me smiling like an absolute lunatic while reading. Do I even need to say more?

But I will.

Our FMC, Vienna Stratton is sharp, independent, witty, and completely unafraid to speak her mind. Sheโ€™s practical, loyal to a fault, and has this quiet strength that makes her so easy to root for. I loved how she never lost herself in the relationship. She stood her ground, matched Daneโ€™s intensity, and handled every situation with grace and sass. Oh, and she made me laugh. A lot.

Our MMC, Dane Davenport? The blueprint for the quiet, powerful, emotionally-guarded billionaire hero. Heโ€™s controlled, intelligent, dominant without being overbearing, and incredibly protective. A man of few words (very few words) but when he does speak, it matters. And the way he shows love through actions instead of grand speeches? Swoon.

Vienna and Dane together are pure magic. Their chemistry is intense but layered, it builds through subtle moments, shared glances, and that delicious forced proximity tension.

Tropes Youโ€™ll Love

  • Marriage of Convenience
  • Billionaire Romance
  • Workplace Romance
  • Slow Burn
  • Protective MMC
  • Grumpy/Silent Hero
  • Strong, Sassy Heroine

The marriage-of-convenience trope was executed so well. What starts as an arrangement slowly turns into something deeper, softer, and real. The slow burn is chefโ€™s kiss.

And the banter? Top-tier.

This book balances emotional depth with light-hearted, swoony moments so beautifully. Itโ€™s romantic without being overly dramatic, intense without being heavy, and addictive from start to finish.

Vienna and Dane Davenport are love. Period.

A solid 5-star read for me and definitely not my last Suzanne Wright book.

P.S.: I read two more books by Suzanne Wright after finishing this oneโ€ฆ and none of them disappointed.
