Perfect is book two in the Paradise series by Judith McNaught. After reading this book, I have only one regret, and that is not picking it up sooner.
This story has everything. From a dramatic kidnapping to a swoon-worthy reunion, it delivers tension, romance, suspense, and emotional depth all in one sweeping narrative. Yes, itโs 704 pages, but not once did it feel unnecessary. Every chapter builds the connection, the stakes, and the emotional payoff.
Our MMC, Zachary Benedict, is a Hollywood superstar convicted of murdering his wife. Heโs strong, charismatic, wounded, and of course incredibly handsome, but beyond that, heโs layered. Thereโs vulnerability beneath the fame, frustration beneath the confidence, and a quiet desperation to be truly seen and understood. Watching his character unravel and rebuild throughout the story was one of the highlights for me.
Our FMC, Julie Mathison, is just as compelling. Adopted at a young age when she was considered a troublemaker, she grows into a compassionate, intelligent woman loved by everyone around her. She is a strong advocate for education and literacy, especially for women, and that subplot is truly marvellous. The literacy-for-women angle is handled with such care and sincerity. Itโs a powerful and meaningful introduction to the issue of illiteracy among women without ever feeling forced or overly heavy. It adds substance to the story and makes Julieโs character even more admirable.
The chemistry between Zach and Julie is intense from the start. What begins under chaotic and unexpected circumstances slowly transforms into something deeper and more meaningful. Their emotional journey is filled with misunderstandings, vulnerability, longing, and moments that truly make your heart ache. The tension is real. The emotional stakes are high. And when the romance finally settles into something solid, it feels earned.
Judith McNaught has a way of writing epic love stories. The kind that feels cinematic and larger than life, yet still grounded in raw emotion. Perfect is dramatic, romantic, and unforgettable. Itโs about redemption, trust, and finding love when the world is against you.
A five-star read for me. Emotional, intense, and absolutely worth every page.
