I usually donโt pick up books from this genre, but Iโm really glad I read Before the Coffee Gets Cold. It turned out to be such a different and memorable reading experience.
Itโs not exactly a collection of short stories, but rather four interconnected stories that revolve around a small cafรฉ where you can travel through time. Each story focuses on a different character, and what I loved was how these characters appear across the book, making everything feel connected and whole.
The concept itself is simple yet so intriguing. You can visit the past or the future, but there are rules. And the most important one? You must return before the coffee gets cold. Within this limited time, each character tries to confront something left unsaid, unresolved, or unfinished in their lives.
This book gives you hope and, at the same time, gently breaks your heart. Itโs emotional without being overwhelming, and even when the stories are sad, thereโs a quiet warmth to them. I found myself smiling through some of the most bittersweet moments.
What stayed with me the most is how the book talks about love, regret, closure, and the importance of moments we often take for granted. It makes you think if you had the chance, would you go back? And if you did, what would you changeโฆ or would you change anything at all?
Itโs a soft, reflective read that lingers with you even after youโve finished it.
A beautiful and emotional read for me. A 4 star out of 5! ๐
