Book Review: From Rags by Suzanne Wright

This is the second book I read by Suzanne Wright, and I absolutely loved it. From Rags had so many of my favourite romance elements packed into one story that it was almost impossible for me not to enjoy it.

Alpha hero? Check.
Banter? Check.
Angst? Check.
Strong, independent characters? Definitely check.

The FMC, Jaxxon Carter, is an absolute force of nature. She’s independent, hardworking, sharp-tongued, and doesn’t let anyone walk all over her. I loved her fiery personality and the way she stood her ground, especially when faced with someone as determined as Conner. Jaxxon is the kind of heroine who knows her worth, and that made her incredibly easy to root for.

And then there’s our MMC, Conner McKenzie. If you enjoy possessive, protective, “mine, mine, mine” heroes, then Conner is going to be right up your alley. He’s confident, powerful, and completely obsessed with Jaxxon in the best possible way. Beneath all that alpha energy, though, is a man who genuinely cares, and I loved watching his feelings for Jaxxon unfold throughout the story.

What truly made this book work for me was the chemistry between the two leads. The attraction is undeniable from the start, but it’s the banter that steals the show. Their conversations are witty, entertaining, and filled with tension that keeps the pages turning. Every interaction felt natural, making their relationship both believable and incredibly enjoyable to follow.

The book also strikes a good balance between romance, emotional depth, and character development. There are moments of vulnerability hidden beneath the strong exteriors of both characters, which adds another layer to the story.

Overall, From Rags was a thoroughly enjoyable read that reminded me why I love romance so much. It delivered the chemistry, the tension, the banter, and the swoon-worthy hero I was looking for. If you’re a fan of strong heroines, possessive alpha heroes, and romances packed with sparks and emotional depth, this is definitely one worth picking up.

A solid 4 stars out of 5!
